A historic Austin restaurant that was a cultural landmark. Threadgill’s, originally located at 6416 North Lamar Blvd and later at 301 W Riverside Dr, was renowned for its Southern comfort food and live music scene. The establishment was a favorite haunt of Janis Joplin during her time at the University of Texas in the 1960s and played a significant role in Austin’s music history. Unfortunately, as of 2024, both locations have permanently closed.

Despite its closure, Threadgill’s legacy continues through its online store, which offers merchandise such as Eddie Wilson’s memoir, “Armadillo World Headquarters,” and other memorabilia from the original location .Wikipedia+2Threadgill’s+2The Boneyard+2
